Overview

Defaqto has established a track record and brand reputation for providing in-depth information across the whole financial market. They are a major name within the industry and have an ever expanding product range and client base.
A Defaqto Star Rating reflects the quality of a financial product, helping users make better financial decisions. Each product is rated with 1 to 5 stars showing you the quality and the level of features and benefits offered by that product.

Challenge

Defaqto approached our studio to develop a viral site which would raise awareness of their rating.

Solution

The visual design was created on basis of company’s branding guidelines in close collaboration with their in-house design team. The site was created in Flash as it was the most effective tool for us to create the clients vision. The movies and daily updated products ratings were brought into the flash externally through an xml feed and database which allowed us to stream the movies to the user instantly and have the products list and ratings always up to date.
The user selects their financial product from a pre-determined list of Product areas, Providers and Products. Then the star rating is calculated: an animation starts “calculating” the chosen product rating, a short video shows Defaqto employees hard at work in their office in Buckinghamshire and then the final star rating between 1 and 5 is displayed.
